Claire Wilshaw, Marketing Manager on reading David Grossman's To the end of the Land

Last year I uploaded a manuscript onto my ereader (useful for reading a large document) and took it home with little expectation. I had heard of David Grossman, but never read his previous work and I had no real idea what to expect. A quiet week stretched ahead for which I was thankful, the manuscript was large and I would need all those evening hours to get through it. Short books, especially before reading, can often seem appealing to me (inherent laziness on my part no doubt) and at a substantial 920 virtual pages Grossman's novel certainly wasn't by any stretch of the imagination short.

Hello all and welcome back to the trade blog. Here at Vintage we do love a good film tie-in. Huge advertising across the nation from the film company, the age-old book vs film debate in the newspapers – and preferably a huge publicity scandal involving the key actor/actress. Vintage have a great history of tie-in successes – Atonement, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, A Single Man, Revolutionary Road…the list goes on. And this Autumn we’ve got two huge film tie-ins coming your way…
